Reinventing the system: why we built Aneira Health
Women’s health has long been overlooked, underfunded, and under-researched. Misdiagnosis, long waiting lists and one-size-fits-all approaches leave millions of women in the UK without the care they need and deserve.
We believe women deserve better: better answers, better care, better outcomes.
Today, we’re launching Aneira Health to tackle the women’s health crisis, and make women’s health better, for better women’s health.
Who are we?
For those who are new to Aneira, we’re a state-of-the-art healthcare solution with a bold mission: to close the gender gap in care with a service built specifically for women’s bodies, lives and needs, not retrofitted to them.
Our executive team is made up of expert leaders across healthcare, women’s health and technology:
- Our Co-Founder and CEO, Chris Wigley, former CEO of Genomics England
- Our Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer, Dr Cecilia Lindgren, Director of the Oxford Big Data Institute and world-leading genomics professor at Oxford University, specialising in women’s health and cardio-metabolic conditions
- Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ingrid Granne, Research Professor at Oxford University, Gynaecology Consultant and specialist in reproductive medicine
- Our Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, Dr Nikita Kanani MBE, former Medical Director of Primary Care for NHS England, GP in Lewisham and leader of the UK’s implementation of the national and local vaccine rollout
- Our Chief Technology and Product Officer, Matt Gillam, seasoned tech and product leader, former Chief Technology Officer of Sonder Bio, an international healthtech scale-up, and Director of Product and Technology at Just Eat
Change in women’s health is well overdue:
- 1 in 10 women suffer from endometriosis, but diagnosis still takes on average 9.7 years
- Women are 50% more likely to suffer adverse drug reactions, due to research bias focusing on male physiology
- UK gynaecology waiting lists have now exceeded 630,000, and continue to rise
- Women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health than men
- Untreated women’s health issues cost the UK economy an estimated £11 billion per year
Behind these striking facts are real women’s lives. Women who have been told to wait, that it’s ‘just their hormones’, and who are dismissed.
Aneira Health isn’t another app, point solution or symptom tracker. We’ve built an entirely new care model: grounded in science, driven by technology and delivered with empathy, shaped by women’s experience.
We offer care across the spectrum of women’s health:
- Whole-life care, not reactive responses. We support women through their health journey at every stage of life with preventative care, chronic conditions, specialist care, fertility and much more.
- Accelerated, AI-powered diagnostics. Our proprietary technology and science aim to halve diagnosis time by identifying patterns early to support faster, more accurate clinical decision-making.
- Clinical-grade diagnostics and tech-enabled testing for early detection and ongoing insights, for state-of-the-art precision.
- Personalised care pathways built using medical history, genetic biomarkers and data, analysed by our AI to guide evidence-based treatment.
- Specialist support for complex conditions, like endometriosis, menopause and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), with AI-enhanced data insights to accelerate diagnosis and tailor interventions
- Care and empathy for every woman. We truly listen to our patients, to create a full picture of their health and wellbeing and make sure every woman is heard.
We’re already partnering with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust and delivering care to women across the UK, and our official launch today is only the beginning. We’re building a care model for the future where women don’t wait a decade for a diagnosis. Where they aren’t dismissed for valid concerns. Where they don’t have to fight to be believed. And where care is actually built to treat their bodies.
When women flourish, we all benefit. And we’re treating women’s health as a priority, not an afterthought, to move women’s health forward.
Welcome to Aneira Health, we can’t wait to meet you.
